Awaken the Sleeping Giant

Imagine what you would do if you had a child with a heart condition, and your child suddenly took a turn for the worse in the middle of the night. You rush to the hospital, hoping that she survives long enough to get treatment.

When you get there, you are informed that the only available specialist has gone home to sleep and is not on-call. The staff begins calling the specialist over and over again to try and awaken her, but she doesn’t hear the phone in the next room because she is so soundly asleep.

Finally, they call her home phone number and reach her husband. He tries calling to her softly, then louder. Finally he awakens her by shaking her firmly until she stirs.

America has a heart condition that is so critical, it is touch and go. There is only one who can bring healing to her; the bride – God’s people.

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14 )

But many who go by His name are slumbering, and because of that, America may not make it. What will our Lord do to wake us up? He has been calling us. He has been crying out through His prophets. He has been waiting until He can wait no longer. It is time to resort to shaking us in order to awaken us.

The Lord says that His bride is a sleeping giant who doesn’t realize who she is. She is betrothed to the King of Kings, which means that she has authority in the kingdom, and the responsibility to carry His healing and salvation.

We should be living victorious lives and the overflow of who we are in Christ should be spilling out to the world around us. We are His hands and His feet, but if we are asleep we cannot be any good to Him.

There is a tremendous shaking that has begun in America. It is time for the sleeping giant to arise and take her place as carriers of the glory of God, but first we have to be fully awake and restored to our first love. Once this happens, there will be no stopping what the bride of Christ can do to bring the healing hand of God to America, and to the nations.

Everything That Can Be Shaken

About a month ago the Lord told me that everything that can be shaken will once again be shaken. He said that the measure of the shaking would be determined by what each of us has left to be shaken.

God is preparing us for what is ahead. Have you been shaken in any area of your life lately? Do you feel stressed or challenged, perplexed over circumstances or are you experiencing some difficulties in your life that you don’t seem to be able to pray away?

As we pass from glory to glory, we often are shaken so that things that are not of Him can be loosed from us. The most important thing to do in these times is to press in to His presence and trust in Him, all the while seeking to discover if there is any way in us that is not pleasing to Him.

This is a good time to once again examine our hearts like David did, and see if there is any wickedness left in us. The shaking helps things to come to the surface and it’s up to us to yield to Him so He can cleanse us and purify us, making us ready for whatever comes next.

Hope for the New Year

As we come into a new season, it is obvious that the world is getting darker, and everything around us seems uncertain. I see so many people worrying about what is going to happen next. Worrying about the economy, worrying about whether or not the government will take over and strip us of our freedom, worrying about our children…

But we have to remember that we are to put our hope in Jesus and our heavenly calling. Yes, the world is getting darker, and yes, there will be changes that will grieve us, especially in America. But we must look up. He is our savior, our healer, our comforter, our provider, our protector, and our reason for living.

It’s too easy to get caught up in the woes and cares of this world, but I want to encourage you today. His holy wind is blowing. He is wooing His bride, and the only thing we have to fear is what it would be like to face Him if we haven’t given Him everything, taken up our cross, and followed Him daily.

We are living in a glorious time, like the apostles did in the days of the early church. In the midst of tremendous persecution there was a move of God such as the world has never seen. His presence, anointing and power were with those who followed Him. The joy of the Lord was with His followers, even into death.

As I challenge you, I also challenge myself. What is our focus? Are we focused on Him and on His kingdom purposes, or are we focused on ourselves and our own desires? Are we looking around us at the desperation of those who are perishing without hope, or are we too busy making sure everything is right in our own life?

We live in a pivotal moment in history. This is the dawning of the greatest move of God since the days of the early church. Are we making sure our life and focus is aligned with Him? His glory is about to be released like we have never experienced, and our day of visitation is just around the corner. I for one do not want to miss it because I am asleep. How about you?

The Monkey and the Coconut

Red Alert America, Sound the Alarm! Chapter 7 – Wake Up Sleeper! excerpt

He Makes the Bitter Water Sweet

It was there at Marah that the Lord set before them the following decree as a standard to test their faithfulness to him. He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you.” (Exodus 15:25-26)

The first stop on our path is healing from our bitter circumstances in life. We have baggage from our past that we try to carry into our future. We make doctrines out of it. We see the world through the eyes of our experience, which clouds our vision. Our view of life comes from our life experiences, such as our upbringing, our ethnic and cultural background, and our society. Most often, these experiences have caused our view of life to be somewhat or severely skewed, especially when it comes to our relationship with the Lord and our Christian way of living. Our thoughts and attitudes, our prejudices, and our past hurts all affect the way we see God and everything around us.

First Corinthians 13:11 says that when we were children that we thought, spoke, and reasoned like children, but that when we grew up, we put childish things aside. The problem is that many people have never grown up and become mature. The “growing up” has to do with maturity, not natural years. I have seen numerous people who function on the level of a child when it comes to their emotions, allowing negative emotions to control them. They haven’t been healed of things that have skewed their perceptions, and they see the world through a haze, believing that they see clearly.

For instance, have you ever known people who were abused and controlled as children, grew up without being healed, and now rebel against all authority? They are in rebellion to God, because they see all authority as abusive, and He represents authority. Of course, God is not abusive, but until they are healed they will not be able to see God any other way. How about people who are smart, funny, and likable but have a terrible view of themselves? Perhaps their family or their peers told them they were worthless, stupid, or something else that has stayed with them like a tape playing in their heads that they cannot get past. No matter what their friends tell them, they don’t believe the good report about themselves, because somewhere along the way they believed a lie about themselves. I know Christians who have turned to alcohol and drugs for comfort because they never grew past their childhood hurts and perceptions. Because of this, they haven’t learned how to fully trust God and take their pain to Him, which would enable them to walk in His wholeness.

Until we learn how to allow God to renew our mind, until we learn what God says about us and come into agreement with Him, we will always have unreal perceptions about ourselves, other people, and the world around us. For instance, if we had an abusive father we may view any kind of male authority as abusive. If we had a domineering or controlling mother we almost always see all strong women as controlling and will have problems dealing with women in any kind of authority or leadership capacity. There are many other examples of perceptions that came from childhood or other life experiences. For example, have you ever had someone dislike you before they ever had a chance to know you, only to find out that you reminded them of someone else who hurt them?

Some people, because of horrible abuse as children, have become abusers as adults, justifying it because it was the behavior they learned from childhood. These perceptions are not truth. Most sex offenders and child abusers were themselves abused and are acting out the horrible things done to them. These people never experienced the loving form of guidance, correction, and discipline that brings a child happily and safely into adulthood, so they repeat the pattern they grew up with.

Throughout our lives, most of us have had painful and bitter experiences. They cause us deep pain and grief. We also have bitter heart attitudes if we don’t forgive those responsible for hurting us. I think a lot of people believe that if they let go of their bitterness it will make them vulnerable to more hurt. When we are hurt we tend to judge those who hurt us, whether they did it deliberately or not. The Bible says that when we judge others we will be judged with equal measure, and the hurt is simply not worth holding on to. Only God is qualified to judge someone’s heart.

It is imperative that we let go and forgive those who hurt us. Allow the Holy Spirit to wash away all the pain. If we don’t let go of all the bitter experiences in our life and the bitterness that’s in our heart, we will be stuck, and our relationship with the Lord will stagnate.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2 NKJV)

We cannot allow our past to dictate our future anymore. God gave the Israelites an opportunity to get rid of their bitter circumstances and bitterness of heart shortly after crossing the Red Sea. Exodus 15 tells us that the people of Israel were led three days across the desert without finding any water. Then they came to an oasis called Marah, which means “bitter water.” When they arrived, they were so thirsty they began to drink, but the water was too bitter to drink.

When they came to the Oasis of Marah, the water was too bitter to drink. So they called the place Marah (which means bitter). Then the people complained and turned against Moses. “What are we going to drink?” they demanded. So Moses cried out to the Lord for help, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. Moses threw it into the water and this made the water good to drink (Exodus 15:23-24).

Our painful circumstances and hurts can be too bitter to live with, but God gives us an opportunity to be healed and set free from the bitter experiences in our lives that have skewed our view of life and tainted our wells. We have to stop at the bitter oasis in life so that we can see what is in our heart. Jesus died for our sin and for our sorrow. He knows our pain because He suffered on the cross, and if we will allow Him to touch our bitterness with the cross, we will be free. The wood that Moses threw into the water represents the power of the cross to make our bitterness turn sweet. In this way, we truly allow Him to take whatever Satan meant for evil and turn it around for good, and this is how the apostle Paul could say that all he had gone through was nothing compared to knowing Christ. The key is surrender or letting go.

Monkeys are interesting animals who don’t like to let go. When I first heard about how hunters in the jungles catch monkeys, I was intrigued, and immediately I thought about how much we behave like monkeys when we don’t let go.

Hunters make a hole in a coconut large enough to put some kind of treat into that is appealing to monkeys. The hole is just large enough for a monkey to slip his hand into. They tie a rope to the coconut and wait for the curious monkeys to come and take the treat. The monkeys want this treat so much that when the rope is pulled, they will not let go of it. Their fist will not fit through the hole, yet rather than let go of the treat, they allow themselves to be taken into captivity, and they lose their freedom or even their lives. The monkeys become easy prey, when all they had to do was let go and they would have been free.

The message here is clear. We have to let go if we want to be free. If we do not let go, we will find ourselves taken into captivity. If we hold on to the familiar things that have kept us bound all of our life, then we will miss out on all the things that true freedom has to offer. Once we learn to trust God and let go of everything that hinders our healing, we will finally be able to see life as it is instead of as our perceptions dictate to us.

When I lived in Redding I used to love to sit by a river or a stream and pray. One beautiful afternoon I found a new stream and went there to pray. As I stood there looking at the water the Lord began speaking to me about His rest and told me to look at the water. He said, “It is deceptive because the water appears to be flowing one way, yet it is actually flowing in the opposite direction.” I wasn’t sure I was hearing Him correctly, because the water definitely looked as if it was flowing to my left. My instinct said that it was flowing to the right, but my eyes said it was flowing the other way.

Then He told me to go to another spot just a little bit farther to the right and look again. I did so, and in that spot there were rocks creating a little resistance with the flow of the water. I could clearly see that the water was actually flowing in the opposite direction from the way it appeared to flow.

Then the Lord spoke again and told me that in order to see which way the Holy Spirit is flowing, I had to see from His vantage point—not my own. When we see things from our own perspective, we will think we are seeing the truth, but once we come into alignment with His perspective, we will see the truth clearly and our perceptions will be accurate.

What bitter experiences or heart attitudes are you holding on to that are keeping you from being truly free? What perceptions do you have that are not real? Are you truly free, or do you need to take another look at the things in your life that you have become comfortable with?

Jesus came to set us free from bondage just as He set the Israelites free from their physical bondage. Unless we learn to let go of the bitter experiences that led us to be the way we are, we will never be truly free. We can and should be free of our childhood and lifetime hurts, no matter how great they were. We can learn how to release the sorrow and the pain to the Lord so He can set us free forever and teach us His way.

Are the things that are keeping you from true freedom worth holding on to? All we have to do is let go and trust God, and He will take us to a new level of maturity and holiness. He can use our bitter circumstances in life and turn them around for His glory when we surrender everything to Him. The most painful experiences in my life have now become my teacher and my anointing to touch lives, because I have learned to let go and allow God to turn my pain into His glory. He has loved us so we can love. He has healed us so we can carry His healing. He will restore us so we can bring restoration to others.

We have been given an opportunity to flush all the sin and pain out of our lives so we can be free in ways we haven’t even known we could be. Forgiveness and repentance are the keys to moving on to a place of refreshment where we will find rest on our journey.

Food for Thought

I was pondering something the other day. America has been used by God to rescue nations from tyrants over and over again, not so we could stay in their country and make it ours, but so that we could see a nation become freer than it was before.

Now America is on a precipice, where we are on the verge of becoming subjects of a ruling tyrant. We are on the verge of totalitarianism taking over our nation.

What great nation will then come and rescue America? There is none. Only God can save this nation that is called to such a great destiny, and only we who claim to love Him can effect this change through humility, turning from our wicked ways, seeking His face, and earnestly interceding for our nation.

Awake, O Sleeper!

I believe there are some life changing events that are soon going to occur in America. The Lord is about to sweep through the land, uprooting and tearing down all that is not of Him.

Our nation has sinned before Him and we could see devastation very soon. It’s time to get serious with Him like never before. It’s time to fall on our faces and repent before Him of our complacency and self will. Most of the church has been asleep, and only a great awakening will save our nation.

I encourage you to look inward and see if there is any area in your heart that needs demolition work so that the Lord can rebuild you His way. So many times we hear a word from God and say to ourselves, “so and so should hear that”, or “that’s a good word”, but we are at a crossroad where one path is sure destruction and the other is salvation. Our generation may not recover from the devastation if we don’t wake up.

The 2012 elections were once again, a barometer of the hearts of the American people. Some are saying that the next time, the election will fix things, but we can’t rely on the elections to save us. What if there is no election? What if martial law is declared and there is a takeover of Hitler proportions? What if there is persecution in our own nation like there is in other countries? The Lord spoke to me in 2008 that if His people don’t awaken and take their places, there will be judgment in America, and only the true servants of God who walk in holiness will stand in that terrible day. Are we there yet? Are we ready? Are we prepared to stand in the midst of whatever comes, or have we become so soft in our Christianity that we will crumble? Do we really take up our cross daily and die to self?

I urge you, my precious brethren, stop for a minute, examine your heart, and see what the Lord wants changed. If enough of His people will do that, we may have a chance of saving this nation – and ourselves.

Order Today!

Red Alert America, Sound the Alarm! was written in response to a mandate from God to call out to His beloved bride. Listen to this message from Deborah to you.

There are two churches in America. The church of “It’s all about me”, and the church of “It’s all about Him.” The church of “It’s all about Him” has been praying and working in His kingdom, while the church of “It’s all about me” has been asleep.

Red Alert America, Sound the Alarm! is for both churches. It is an encouragement to those who are faithful, and a trumpet call for the sleeping Bride to awaken and take her place alongside the faithful Bride in order to bring revival and transformation to America – and the world.

I wrote the first version of the book in 2008, and re-released it with the new title and minor revisions and updates on September 11, 2011 (11/11/11). I feel that every Christian in America should have a copy because this prophetic message from the Lord is so timely. He is calling out to us for such a time as this.

Are you concerned about the condition of America? Are you concerned about the condition of the church? Is there hope for America? Is judgment coming? Do you want to know what God is saying to us in this critical hour? Many of the prophetic words in the book have come to pass and some have yet to occur, but I believe with the correct response to God, we can change the future.

There are many books about the plight of America, but we all need answers from above. What is our next step? How can we save our nation?

I encourage you to pick up a copy for yourself and order extra copies for people you care about. It is one of the best gifts you can give someone. If you want to order multiple copies for a church or organization, please contact me via my contact page to find out about group discounts.

I believe this message is urgent. Order your copy of Red Alert America, Sound the Alarm between now and the election and receive your copy. If you have been to a live event, please use your DISCOUNT CODE when you order, and the book will be delivered to the pre-arranged place that was discussed at the event.

BONUS: Inside every book is a free download link to my song, American Anthem, a call to the nation. You can listen to the song on the music player above.

Through The Eyes of Love music-drama

In part 1 of this music-drama presentation, Deborah and her friend Ellen have been shopping in the mall, and have just stepped into the parking area. Deborah keeps hearing voices, but Ellen doesn’t hear them. Perplexed, Deborah finally asks the Lord what is happening. Immediately, she hears the voice of God, who reveals His heart to her which exposes what is in her own heart.

Through the Eyes of Love was created by Deborah in 2001, performed in a very small venue without lighting, staging or special effects. The message is clear… God has a heart for the lost, the broken, the hurting and the lonely.

In the conclusion of this music-drama presentation, Deborah experiences heart change and begins seeing the world through different eyes.

Birth Control? Really?

In early February, we all saw Obama dip further into the dictator mentality, declaring he would force the issue of free birth control for every woman.

On Hannity, I heard a woman argue that this is about women’s health and the rights of women, etc. BALONY!

If women want birth control, that is their choice! No argument there. Preventing pregnancy is not a health issue for most women, it’s a choice not to have a baby. So, why should the rest of us pay for it? Just buy your pills with your own money. What a concept.

Not only is it not an inherent right for women to have free birth control, it is ludicrous for anyone to say the churches or the insurance companies don’t have a choice but to offer it free!

And while we’re talking about women’s health, women have been duped into thinking that birth control pills and other such drugs are safe, yet they contribute greatly to breast cancer and other serious health issues. Ironic and sad, isn’t it?

Planned Parenthood’s own literature calls abortion a form of birth control. So, the issue here is not really preventing pregnancy as much as it is a back door way to get abortions funded for anyone who wants one. So this bill would pay for abortion procedures, the morning after pill, IUD’s, (I think they have a new name for that now) which are nothing more than implanted abortion devices.

Are we Christians going to stand for this? We need to fight this battle on our knees, and write to our legislators, and say NO. After all, we have been taught to JUST SAY NO to drugs, right?

By the way, we also need to make sure we don’t vote for someone with a DICTATOR mentality, but one who supports the Christian values this nation was founded on.

Carl and Maggie Conti were taking a mid-day nap, oblivious to any danger until a knock on the door awakened them. A fire was bearing down on their home, and the area was being evacuated. They had lost everything they owned and were left with nothing.

While they were there, a group of women offered to pray with them and told them about an organization that was spearheading a relief effort for everyone who had lost their homes in the fire. This organization is the Austin Disaster Relief Network, a Christ-centered godsend to the Austin region.

Beauty for Ashes – The Charlotte Glenn Story

Suppose you lost everything in a devastating fire that took your home and all your belongings while you were over a thousand miles away? What feelings would flood your being at receiving the devastating news? Perhaps you are among those who have had such a loss, and don’t know where to turn?

Charlotte Glenn is a very brave woman who lost everything in the fire that took over 1,500 homes in Bastrop, Texas while her beloved husband was in the hospital fighting for his life. People from her church, Promiseland West in Austin, Texas, rallied to help her, joined by many other caring people in her neighborhood and surrounding areas. This support made all the difference in how she was able to get through her tragedy and kept her from feeling hopeless and alone.

Although she is still grieving, Charlotte says she is so thankful for the way God used His people to reach out to her family in such a desperate time of need, and does not know how she would have gotten through it without the love and compassion the many people showed her as they came alongside of her, helping her with the many overwhelming needs she had as a result of the fire. This episode will inspire you at so many levels as you listen to this heart-wrenching story of tragedy and triumph.

Listen to this Reach Out America episode: Beauty for Ashes. This show will be featured on Reach Out America, December 5 – 11, 2011.

If you or someone you know has been a victim of the tragic fire in Bastrop and need help, you can contact the Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN), and they will connect you with people who will help.

Your help is greatly needed! If you would like to volunteer and/or donate to this cause, please contact ADRN. They are continuing to help the many families in Bastrop who have lost their homes.

Rescued from the Streets

Born into a dysfunctional home, Paul Ivanyo craved the attention and love he could not get from his father. In his teens, he continually acted out, desperate for his father’s attention, but this only made matters worse with his dad. He then became increasingly depressed as his life spiraled downward until finally; he gave up and ran away from home.

Staying wherever he could find shelter, Paul often wandered the streets downtown at night, hoping to meet someone he could relate to until one night, his hopes were realized and his life changed, because of a not so “chance” encounter.

Listen to this episode and meet Larry Ball, founder of Hungry for God Home, and Paul, as they share this heart-touching story.

A Woman Unshackled

Veronica Arcos was a woman who was imprisoned. She was imprisoned by the childhood abuse she suffered, by her fears and addictions, and finally, she was imprisoned by the state of Arizona.

Journey with me into the life of Veronica as I tell the story of her seemingly hopeless life that went from bad to worse until her life took an unexpected turn in a new direction. She amazingly beat the odds and her addictions, and was given a LifePlan with the help of an incredible organization called The Open Table, whose mission is “To restore impoverished families and neighborhoods to stability and wholeness, one at a time.”

Veronica’s story will encourage and inspire the hopeless to believe there is hope, and the rest of us to realize our own potential to be the healing hands that so many desperately need.

Deborah’s Bio

About Deborah Nazemi

Deborah Nazemi lives in Texas with her husband, Terry, and their teenage son, Zechariah. She is the mother of four sons and has two grandchildren. Deborah gave her life to the Lord in 1975 after discovering that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save her from her sins. She received the Holy Spirit the same evening as she learned for the first time that the holy, living God wanted to have a personal relationship with her, and that He created His people for relationship with Him.

This encounter with Jesus changed her life. She was transformed, and fell deeply in love with the Lord after being in the pit of sin. Twelve years later, she experienced personal tragedy that brought her to the brink of giving up on life. Instead, she was again transformed, but in a deeper, more profound way. She discovered that God is there in the deepest, darkest storm, to strengthen and to comfort. The Lord’s comfort deepened her relationship with Him, and she was drawn into an intimacy with Jesus Christ that she didn’t know was possible. Having been through the depths of despair, Deborah now has a deep compassion for people who are hurting, and for those who don’t know God’s healing and empowering love. It was during this healing time in her life that she began to receive prophetic messages for America.

Committed to reaching out to anyone who needs to experience the love and acceptance of God, Deborah has ministered in prison and street ministry, led a ministry to singles, pastored a church, directed a prophetic drama ministry, and is presently focusing on a message of transformation and reformation. Her passion is to give a drink of water to those who are desperately thirsty, to carry hope to those who have none, to bring healing to the brokenhearted, and to show people the way out of darkness.

Mandated With an Urgent Message

Since 1987, Deborah has been receiving prophetic messages from the Lord about the declining spiritual condition and the potentially devastating fate of America. More recently she has felt an urgent mandate to carry God’s message to Christians in America about the purpose and destiny of this nation, and the importance of returning to our first love. Deborah has seen that America has been spiraling towards destruction for a long time. She believes the only hope for America is a great move of repentance that would revive this once-godly nation, and reformation in the church through a paradigm shift; one that will mobilize the body of Christ into action towards reaching out with Christ’s love to help the broken, the needy, the hopeless, etc.

Author/Scriptwriter/Songwriter

Deborah has written, produced, and performed in numerous dramas, including full-length evangelistic plays such as Encounters with a King, The Golden Scepter, and Glory to God, and shorter skits such as Without Spot, Kingdom Airlines, and Through the Eyes of Love. In 2000, Deborah wrote the song, American Anthem, a call to the nation, and later in 2000, she released a contemporary CD titled Love’s Passion, an upbeat collection of love songs to the Lord. She continues to receive praise reports from people throughout the world whose lives have been deeply touched by Love’s Passion.

More recently, Deborah has added book writing as a means of reaching people. In response to a mandate from the Lord, Deborah published her first book, America! Can You Hear God Calling? In 2011, she updated and revised the book, and changed the title to Red Alert America, Sound the Alarm! A call to the nation, Red Alert America, Sound the Alarm! is a must-read for Americans during this dark hour we are facing. Deborah’s conviction, call to come deeper with God, and her unbridled hope for the future are an inspiration. Endorsed by the popular television host of It’s Supernatural, Sid Roth, her book carries a powerful message of repentance, restoration, and transformation to backsliders, and a rally call to organize and mobilize the body of Christ into unity and action. This same message is also presented through Deborah’s Reach Out America events and conferences, and her WebTalkRadio.net show, Reach Out America.
